US Supreme Court denies rehearing in Kennedy v. Louisiana

Via Scotusblog, this morning the United States Supreme Court denied the petition for rehearing in Kennedy v. Louisiana (no death penalty for rape of a child). The Court modified the opinion. The modified version is available here. Justice Scalia issued a statement respecting the denial of rehearing. It was joined by Chief Justice Roberts. The five members of the majority also issued a statement. Justices Thomas and Alito voted to grant the petition for rehearing.
