Judicial ethics opinion re: senior judges & campaign contributions

The Standing Committee on Judicial Ethics and Election Practices has issued opinion JE08-007. The issue presented is "May a senior judge attend a $500 per plate fund raising luncheon being held to support the reelection campaign of a judge?" The short answer is "yes." The Commission finds that donating to a campaign and attendance at a gathering are not public endorsements of another candidate for public office.
