US Supreme Court issues decisions on child porn & Armed Career Criminal statutes

The United States Supreme Court issued four opinions this morning. Scotusblog provides this summary.

The Court issued three criminal law decisions. It upheld a federal statute concerning child pornography. United States v. Williams is available here.

The Court concluded that a defendant is subject to the federal Armed Career Criminal statute based upon the punishment available for recidivists under state law. United States v. Rodriquez is available here.

And it concluded that a person is eligible to be sentenced to a mandatory 10-year sentence for carrying explosives during commission of another crime even if the explosives were not to be used in the crime actually committed. United States v. Ressam is available here.

The fourth decision, Dept. of Revenue of Kentucky v. Davis concerns taxing of bonds.
